On July 10th, B.J. Gerona planned a brhotherhood hike in Cowells Mountain. The trail we normally use is Mission Trails so this was a first time we would have the hike at Cowells. The time we were supposed to meet was 6:30 at Westfalls but some came a little late and we left Westfalls at 7:30.
We got to Cowells Mountain around 8:00. We stretched and got ready and as we were doing that, we saw other hikers with there professional gear on and walking sticks. We joked around how we were not properly ready for this and looked at the trail we were going to take. I believe it was the Big Rock Trail? I think it was a 5 out of 5 trail meaning the most difficult. I also found the trail that we took online, heres what the website said,
"This most difficult approach to Cowles’ summit is also the most beautiful".
We started the hike and Jon D. almost got us lost the first minute taking the wrong trail. Thankfully some hikers passed us and told us the right trail. The first 10 minutes felt like we were just going through peoples backyards. Then we started going further in and it turned into a real hike.

Rough footing, hedges, and steep hills. This hike was longer than the Mission Trails hike. From the guide, I think it was a full 5 miles going up and back. We got to this fork and for a second I thought we reached the peak but turns out it was only the half way there part. We took a small break, pictures, and Charlee took a crap in the bushes.
This is how it went:
"Hey, whered charlee go?"
"Idk, probably in the bushes"
"Charlee!!, where are you!"
(Hear a fart in the bushes, but no response from charlee)

After Charlee took care of business, we continued on. We ran up this long hill and when we got on top, we saw a long windy road that looked like it was the end. Fastened up the pace and stopped by a part where it had a really nice view.

After that, we went a little bit further and we finally got to the top. The feeling of accomplishment came to us when we touched the rock.
Took a couple of video footage when we were at the top and we saw the whole San Diego Region. We saw Chappy and State and a bunch of other areas. We then took a group picture and made our way down the mountain.

It was challenging going down since it was really slippery. We got to the place where it forked and then took the trail that we thought we took going up. Turns out, we took the wrong one and came out of the mountain in a different starting location. The phrase of the day was, " I dont remember this!"
The part of the hike coming down that for sure told us we werent on the right trail was that we passed by a little river and bridge. We looked at the trail guide and turns out, we were just half a mile from where we started so we just jogged and saw our cars down the road.
